#Life Style: Creierul este conectat la sistemul imunitar
Oamenii de ştiinţă au fost convinşi zeci de ani că în creier nu există vase limfatice şi că acesta nu are legătură directă cu sistemul imunitar.
Asta a fost în trecut, deoarece un nou studiu elaborat în Statele Unite demonstrează contrariul. Această descoperire va deschide noi modalităţi de a trata maladii grave neurologice precum shizofrenia şi demența şi ne va explica modul în care sistemul imunitar ne poate influenţa creierul şi chiar comportamentul.
Deocamdată cercetătorii americani au identificat în creier doar vasele care transportă fluidul şi celule ale sistemului imunitar, dar nu şi modul în care aceste vase sunt organizate în meninge, membrana care acoperă creierul, şi care este funcţia lor exactă.
Sistemul limfatic asigură legătura dintre țesuturi și fluxul sanguin, contribuind și la eliminarea celulelor sanguine moarte și a altor factori toxici.
