Primul transplant din lume de plămâni şi ficat a fost a fost efectuat cu succes în Rusia.
Operaţia i-a fost făcută unui băiat pe nume Mihail în vârstă de nouă ani. Până la intervenţia chirurgicală, copilul era mereu conectat la dispozitivul de ventilație artificială a plămânilor, iar ficatul îi era grav afectat de ciroză.
Cea mai grea etapă a fost găsirea organelor potrivite. Operaţia, care a durat tocmai 16 ore, a fost efectuată de unii dintre cei mai buni chirurgi din Rusia.
"Ne-am gândit să facem aceste operaţii concomitent, dar asta nu a dat rezultate. Apoi am decis să stabilim un plan minuţios cu paşii exacţi pe care urmează să-i întreprindem", a spus Serghei Gotie, chirurg.
Copilul a fost vizitat la spital de ministrul rus al Sănătăţii, Veronica Skvorţova. Oficialul l-a felicitat pe Mihail şi pe echipa de chirurgi pentru succes şi a menţionat că în ultimii trei ani, în Rusia a crescut de două ori numărul operaţiilor de transplant.
