Locul unde a fost ucis Mahatma Gandhi, vândut la licitaţie
10 mii de lire sterline sau echivalentul a aproape 200 de mii de lei. Contra acestei sume a fost vândută o bucată de pământ de la locul în care a fost ucis, în 1948, părintele independenţei Indiei, Mahatma Gandhi. Licitaţia a fost organizată în comitatul Shropshire, din vestul Angliei.
Bucata de pământ şi câteva fire de iarbă au fost păstrate într-un recipient de sticlă şi o cutie specială de lemn.
"Este o mostră de pământ. Nu este mare, dar dacă eşti printre cei care cred în doctrina şi ideile lui Gandhi, atunci această bucată de pământ devine echivalentul relicvelor medievale ale creştinilor, aşa cum sunt moaştele unor sfinţi", a spus reprezentantul casei de licitaţie Richard Weswood-Brookes.
La licitaţie au mai fost expuşi celebrii ochelari ai lui Mahatma Gandhi. Aceştia au fost vânduţi contra sumei de 34.000 de lire sterline, echivalentul a aproximativ 700 de mii de lei, deşi preţul de pornire era de 10.000 de lire.
La eveniment au mai fost expuse diverse obiecte rare legate de istoria Indiei, iar întreaga colecţie a fost vândută pentru 100.000 de lire sterline, echivalentul a aproximativ două milioane de lei moldoveneşti.
