Polonia face o propunere riscantă și se oferă să găzduiască o bază militară permanentă a Statelor Unite ale Americii, proiect la care este gata să contribuie cu două miliarde de dolari. Inițiativa aparține ministerului Apărării, dar nu a trecut pe la președintele Poloniei înainte de a ajunge la Washington, potrivit unui document văzut de site-ul Onet, scrie libertatea.ro.
Mutarea reflectă dorința guvernului de la Varșovia de a întări legăturile militare cu Statele Unite ale Americii și are susținători încă din 1999, când Polonia a intrat în NATO. Dezbaterea a fost reluată puternic în ultimii trei ani, după ce Rusia a anexat peninsula ucraineană Crimeea.
De altfel, Polonia, la fel ca România, Bulgaria și cele trei state baltice găzduiește aproape o mie de soldați americani printr-un sistem de rotație. Polonia este și centrul de comandă al unei forțe de reacție rapidă creată de NATO ca urmare a agresivității rusești în regiune.
Apărută cu o lună înainte de summitul NATO de la Bruxelles, propunerea polonezilor cu siguranță va înfuria Rusia și nu va fi nici pe placul unor parteneri europeni precum Germania sau Italia care își doresc relații mai bune cu Moscova.
"Propunerea arată nevoia clară și actuală pentru o divizie blindată a SUA în Polonia, angajamentul Poloniei de a oferi sprijin semnificativ de 1,5 – 2 miliarde de dolari prin stabilirea unor instalații militare comune și de a permite o mișcare mai flexibilă a trupelor SUA", arată documentul.
